About Our
Organization
The Caribbean Equine Relief Fund was founded in 2017 following Hurricanes Irma and Maria. In its first year, CERF distributed almost $200,000 in aid in the form of feed, fencing, stable supplies and veterinary medication to a total of 9 islands impacted by the devastating storms. Since then, CERF has assisted equines on Grand Bahama following Hurricane Dorian (2019) and St. Vincent following the eruption of La Soufriere (2021). In 2022, CERF helped fund an effort to bring hay to equines in Puerto Rico following Hurricane Fiona which wiped out the hay fields on the island. Most recently, CERF provided aid to the islands of Grenada and St. Vincent following Hurricane Beryl (2024).
Originally operating as a consortium of 4 non-profits including US Equestrian (USEF), Equestrian Canada, Pan American Equestrian Confederation (PAEC) and the Cayman Islands Equestrian Federation, CERF became its own independent legal entity in 2022 and received its 501(c)(3) designation shortly thereafter.
